I Cut Off My Greedy Son After He Tore Up My Check in Public

I have been making deliveries for a company that treats me like a number for the past fifteen years. Fifteen years of waking up before dawn, fifteen years of aching knees from climbing stairs, fifteen years of smelling like cardboard and tape. I drive an old Honda Civic with over two hundred thousand miles on it. The paint is faded to a chalky gray, the passenger door has a dent from a shopping cart, and the floor mats are more hole than fabric. I don’t complain. I don’t expect sympathy. This is my life, and I have made peace with it.
