I Had 6 Months to Live, So I Showed My Mother-in-Law My Real Bank Account

I pulled into my driveway a little after two in the afternoon.

The sun was beating down, but I felt cold all over.

I’d just come from Dr. Harrison’s office.

He’d sat me down in that sterile little room, the kind with the fake plants and the box of tissues on the table, and he’d said words I never expected to hear.

“I’m so sorry. The cancer is advanced. We’re looking at approximately six months.”

Six months.

That’s all I had left.

I sat in my truck for ten minutes, gripping the steering wheel, trying to make sense of it.
