Sold My House While I Was in the Hospital

I’m a 67-year-old widow from Ohio. My husband passed away ten years ago. We built our house together when we were young. It was a simple two-story colonial with a white picket fence. But it was ours.

Every morning, I’d sit on the porch swing and watch the sunrise. The garden was his pride. He planted roses and tulips. After he died, I kept them blooming.

I had a son. Michael. He was my only child. I loved him more than anything.

Then he married Jessica.

Jessica was a real estate agent. She was pretty and ambitious. But she never looked me in the eye. She always seemed to be calculating something.
